ADDENDUM: In Vang Vieng, we stayed at the Babylon Guesthouse who provided us with a large room for 4 people for the ridiculous sum of $6.50 per night. The Babylon is operated by my friends Nick (a Brit) and his business partner Kum (Lao). For an exciting and unique vacation experience, I think few places in the world can compare with Vang Vieng.

i have a very good time stayed there... Kam & Nic the owner very kind and helpful...- the airl lines lost my bag they help me on phone and follow up, and they didn't want to charge me any one kip ....good for a woman traveling alone like me. You will be expereince with a warm welcome from Lao people like "kam"

littlle kham was grate little curried chicken yum yum wow this a really full on amazing web site Im reeeely glad that I found it and Baby lon just blew me away heh heh

The guesthouse is in a good location on the main street close to all the bars. Theres an area downstairs you can watch tv or films (they have a huge selection) so its nice to be able to pick your own films rather than watch Friends all day at the other bars!! The beds are hard but they can give you extra mats to make it more comfortable.

The guesthouse was great, no problems there, Kam was very frienldy and polite. Nic on the other hand we found had no people skills, especially when he decided to get pissed and talk over the film we we're watching.
Great place though, well recommended.

You guys really should try to fit in the Babylon for your next visit. We stayed there for two nights, in one of the more upscale rooms. It was on the top floor facing the back, with some nice views over the mountains. It was really good value for your money, and I think it would be a shame to let this get past fellow travellers.

There is a good selection of guest houses within easdy walking distance of where the bus drops you off. Next to the Organic Cafe is a place called The Babylon. Had we not been content with where we were staying we'd have definately opted for there.

Just a couple of lines on the Babylon. We never stayed there as we were reasonably content with the place we'd already booked into. But we did have a look round the Babylon. It is new, was absolutely spotless, and although on Pizza Street at the south end it is far enough away from the action to be described as quiet. The price of a room is also a steal. Well recommended.

Had a great stay, friendly staff, good location and clean rooms.
The free wifi internet conection was great and the only wireless internet conection in vangvieng.
They also do free music swaping for ipods and mp3.
A total hot-spot!

owner friendly - when hungover the lobby was a great place to hang out.
towels in the room are so a nice bonus for the price.

Can't believe people write bad things about this place. It's the best place I have ever stayed at in Southeastasia, and I have been travelling for 6 months. Nick was never only rude, he was awful to us. It's great he still has a job there. It's the first place we would recommend. Trust me on this one. Stay here!

Nic, even in his pants and tired was really nice, helpful, and told some very bad jokes, to myself and other customers, if you have no sense of humor AVOID AT ALL COSTS! But if your looking for a laugh, its the place.

Really great place - rooms were cozy. Nick & Kam the owner were very helpful, to us and customers and they seemed to actualy care if people had a nice stay.
They even gave sound advice when i got in trouble for smoking whilst tubbing'!
We met some other travelers who'd had the same experience. The locals we spoke to about it in Vang Vieng weren't surprised, he's known for being very helpful both to customers and staff. I honestly can understand why people would go there!

i have been working for nic long time. i am very scared of him. he always drunk and using jaba a lot. he is not nice to me and the people in the guesthouse. people please help me find a new place to work for. i cannot work not longer for this bad men.
